Would You Like More Fruit in Your Box?
We know many of you (and us included) eat a lot more fruit than you receive in your box. We could, or course, put more fruit in, however fruit is often expensive and this would not leave much for us to spend on vegies. Therefore, we also offer fruit as an ‘extra’ so you can add an extra kilo or two of your favourites (you’ll find all the extra fruit offerings on the ‘Fruit and Veg’ page).
Apples!
Forest Orchards grow the best and most sought after organic apples in Australia. We have many times tried growers much closer to the Central Coast however the quality hasn’t ever come close. Forest Orchards are one of the few growers who dispatch their produce in reusable crates. Retailers and wholesalers pay a deposit for each crate which is refunded on return. Forest Orchards apples are not sold to the large supermarket chains.
Forest Orchards is a family enterprise run by third generation orchardist Graeme Schultz, his wife Fiona and their sons. The property is located in Forest Range, just outside Adelaide, and about half the acreage is preserved as untouched bush-land. The Orchards were certified organic twenty years ago and the Schultz family is very dedicated to the sustainability of their farming practice.
Keeping your apples in the crisper of your fridge definitely keeps them crispier!
As the apple season draws nearer an end… you may notice the quality reduces. The ‘inbetween’ winter and summer fruit season can be challenging when it comes to supply, so please bear with us!

Cleaning Products
By the end of this week we should have our new cleaning products available! All ingredients are Australian sourced with the products being made in the ACT by John Leiber at Naturally Clean Cleaning Products. John is passionate about helping people remove pollutants from their lives and the environment. Visit Naturally Cleans website (and we’ll include more information next week!):
http://www.naturallyclean.com.au/products.html
We will be supplying the cleaning products in recycled containers, so please remember to save and send us any containers you have! We also want any small bottles for ‘ice packs’.
PLUS, we will be recycling English Spinach/Mixed Lettuce containers for the same purpose. English spinach is prone to being squashed and bruised so it’s important we try and protect it. So please don’t be surprised if your next batch comes in a recycled strawberry container or similar!
Community Connection
Do you offer a service that nurtures the earth and/or the people of the community? Forward us a link to your website or your information and we are happy to share in our future newsletters or social media posts.
“We can begin by doing small things at a local level, like planting community gardens or looking out for our neighbours. That is how change takes place in living systems, not from above, but from within. From many local actions occurring stimultaniously ” Grace Lee Boggs
