A guilt free indulgence packed with antioxidants.
These make a great ‘homemade’ Christmas present!
In a blender or food processor (which ever mills the best) add
- 100g (raw) hazelnuts, with shells on (alternatively use hazelnut meal)
Mill the nuts finely then add
- 250g dates (deseeded)
Mill until ‘pastey’ then add in
- 80g Cacao
- 25g Coconut Oil
- 20g Maple Syrup or Raw Honey
- ¼ tsp Vanilla powder (or use essence or bean)
- 5g orange zest
Process until well combined (approx 20 secs) and then add in
- 80g hazelnuts – raw is fine, although toasted does add more flavour.
I gently toast mine in a pan. Once cooled I give them a rub removing some of the skins. Blend again – not too finely – so you can still see small chunks of hazelnuts in the mix.
Squash together small handfuls and roll into balls. Place in the fridge (until firm and cold).
